Tulu Parba Competitions held with great enthusiasm

Tulu Koota Kuwait Competitions were held at the Indian Community School Khaitan with great enthusiasm and excitement. There were lots of traditional and contemporary games for children and adults alike.

The program started with a warm welcome from our upcoming generation, the children of Tulu Koota Kuwait, Aditi Suvarna & Neil Sanctis. They set the mood for the day with their beautiful smiles and warmth. A welcome prayer was sung by the Mr. Purandar Manchi. The program kick started with words of inspiration from Mr. Ramesh Kidiyoor, the President of Tulu Koota Kuwait and the lighting of the lamp by the members of the Management Committee and Program Co-ordinator Mrs. Sushma Bangera. The children excelled in various fields. The toddlers had a photography game where expressions were taken into consideration for judging and the display board for kids made a beautiful sight for all present in the hall. The children from 2-4 had a game Jokulna Gobbu (Smart kid), they were left on the stage for 10 whole minutes with various toys. Their smartness and attitude towards the toys were given judged upon.

The children from 4-6 showed their talent though Origami and Tulu Nadu Vesh Bhushana (Fancy dress with traditional wear of Tulu Nadu). Age group 6-9 had to write letter to anyone they knew in English or Tulu in English words in a post card. Post cards were provided by Tulu Koota and the main intention was to let the children know how to write in a Post card while they are born in the world of internet. The children aged 9-12 enjoyed drawing with a theme of “My Village” – Enna Oruda Porlu. The Ladies competed in “Food without Fire” and “Beeda Kattunu”. Their excitement was worth seeing. Men excelled in Making Kites and Turban Tying. The kites were displayed on stage and turban tied men also ramped on the stage with thunderous audience applause.

The couples sizzled on stage with a competition just right for them “Adarsh Dampati”. It was well conducted by Tharendra Shettigar along with the support of Suresh Salian. The competition was a grand success with audiences clapping every time the participants came on stage. Apart from the above games there was Fancy Dress and Dance for participants open to all, sorted in different groups. It was a feast to see the children and adults in their beautiful costumes and moves.

“TKK Biggest Loser” contest results were also announced and prizes were given away by the President and the Advisors of TKK. The First prize – Male was bagged by Mr. Govind Babu, while Mr. Prabhakar Rao stood second. The first prize Female went to Mrs. Geetha Suvarna, while Mrs. Kavita Kidiyoor took the second prize. Their weight was recorded for the first time during the Rasamangari 2012 in the month of June and they were given 3 months to be the biggest loser.

The whole program was conducted very efficiently by Swati Bhandary and Sathish Acharya, while the competition was coordinated by Sushma Bangera. Tasty Mangalorean food was served by Mingash Restaurant, photography was done by Prashanth Shetty and Sound and Light were by Anand Illuminations. The event was concluded by a vote of thanks by the General Secretary, Sathya Narayan, Prize distribution and singing our National Anthem.
