Pleasant weather, festive environment with large crowd mark the Tulu Koota Kuwait families get together.

The Tulu Koota Kuwait Family Picnic which was held on 18th March 2016 drew large crowd, at the Mishref garden, Kuwait. It was the unity of the committee members and active participation of the audience that eventually led to the success of the family picnic.

The event was inaugurated first by singing the National Anthem live by the TKK kids, with live music by Valence Fernandes. The torch was then lit by the President, Mr. Harish Bhandary and the Chief Guest of the evening, Mr. Lawrence Saldanha. The Vice president, Wilson D’souza hoisted the flag while the Sports secretary, Rajesh Poojary did the traditional breaking of the coconut as they declared the event open.

The chief guest of the day, Mr. Lawrence Saldanha, is the General Manager at the Arabian Darb Company and is very well known personality for his philanthropic activities in Mangalore. He has built a stadium in Mangalore, built hospital, English medium school to name some of his charitable work. He in his speech informed that he feels proud to be a part of Tulu Koota Kuwait as this is the only organization in Kuwait that has people from Tulunadu of all religions. He hopes that Tulu Koota Kuwait continues to grow and hence strengthen its charitable work.

Suresh Salian conceptualized the inauguration idea, while the Picnic was very well coordinated by the Sports Secretary, Rajesh Poojary. The picnic started off with children dancing away in the Zumba and Bollywood steps. Children of 0-2 years old played passing the teddy and kids of 2-4 ribbon race and collecting the ball with ease, while 4-6 year olds competed in zig-zag walk and Water and fire games. The 6-9 year olds played run pick and run & ring in the wicket and single wicket throw. Little bigger boys and girls played Slow Tyre game, Lagori, Lemon Spoon race and the traditional Kutti donne.

Ladies and Men enjoyed Breaking the Pot, Kutti Donne and Head twist game, while the couples played balancing the orange and Rock n Roll games.

There were team games of Throwball, Voleyball, Kabbadi, Govinda and Tug of war played. Men and women arrived in large numbers to register for the teams as they kept the audience fascinated and engrossed for an extensive length of time. The Throwball tournament for Ladies was won by Strikers 11 and the runners up were Billava Sangha Kuwait. Kabbadi tournament was won by Billava Sangha Kuwait while the runners up were Mangaluru Friends. Volleyball tournament was won by Kunjal Friends A and the runners up were Kunjal Friends B.

A game of Housie housie was hosted by Suresh Shyam Rao while the audience settled after the games and quiz were conducted by Tarendra Shettigar in between the games. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks given by Mr. Satish Acharya. The event was beautifully hosted by Preeti Shetty, Purandar Manchi, Sushma Bangera and Lionel Mascarenhas. Scrumptious lunch was served by M&M confectionaries, while the lightings and sound was arranged by Anand Illuminations.

The success of the event is owed to the wholehearted support of all the committee members, who toiled day and night to achieve their target.
